Wir setzen auf Altbewährtes, Erfahrung und Nachhaltigkeit.
Nach sieben Prototypen, acht Zyklen und zwanzig Jahren Projektlaufzeit haben wir uns wieder einmal neu entdeckt.
Doch beginnen wir beim Anfang: Seit 2001 tritt das SolarCar Team der Hochschule Bochum regelmäßig bei der World Solar Challenge (WSC) in Australien sowie bei zahlreichen anderen Wettbewerben in der Solarcar Szene an. Bei Hitze, Regen und Rückschlägen haben wir uns schon bewiesen.
Wir sind einmal um die Welt gefahren, haben zahlreiche Trophäen mit nach Bochum gebracht und warten und betreiben kontinuierlich unsere älteren Fahrzeuge.
Anfang des Jahres 2018 haben wir innegehalten, zurück geschaut und uns eine Frage gestellt: Was haben wir bisher noch nicht erreicht? Die Antwort war schnell gefunden.
Wir wollen endlich Weltmeister werden.
Auf der Jagd nach dem Titel
Nach dem glorreichen zweiten Platz von 2017 mit dem thyssenkrupp blue.cruiser sind wir nun wieder einmal auf der Jagd nach dem Titel. In der Rückschau auf die vergangenen Jahre unseres Projektes hat sich eins klar gezeigt: Mit dem thyssenkrupp SunRiser können wir dieses Mal gewinnen.
Wir haben uns also entschlossen nicht von vorn zu beginnen, sondern auf der guten Grundlage aufzubauen, die wir über Jahre geschaffen haben. Auch im Sinne der Nachhaltigkeit setzen wir darum auf unser Allstar-Fahrzeug. Im Moment gibt das Team alles und arbeitet mit Anstrengung daran den thyssenkrupp SunRiser zu optimieren.
Im Juli werden wir den überarbeiteten thyssenkrupp SunRiser der Öffentlichkeit präsentieren.

Seven prototype SolarCars, eight teams, and twenty years into this project we managed to rediscover ourselves yet again.
Let's start at the beginning though. The Bochum SolarCar Team has regularly appeared at the Australian World Solar Challenge ever since 20xx, while also making numerous appearances at other SolarCar events in Europe and around the world. Heat, rain, and all kinds of setbacks have challenged us during that time.
We drove all the way around the globe, brought lots of trophies and awards back to Bochum, thanks to our continuous efforts to utilize and preserve our older vehicles.
In early 2018 we took a step back and asked ourselves this: What's there we haven't managed to do yet? Finding the obvious answer didn't take too long. We want to become world champions at last.
Going for the cup
After successfully clenching second place in 2017 thanks to our thyssenkrupp blue.cruiser we're going for the championship once again. Looking back on the last few years of our project one thing became evidently clear: The thyssenkrupp SunRiser will win us this race. It meets all the requirements, among those being two seats, a battery with a capacity of 40kWh, a weight of 500kg, and 20 years of experience from the team managing it.
In short, we decided not to start from scratch this time but to continue on from a solid foundation. This way we can best apply our already acquired skills in the most sustainable of ways. Optimizing the SunRiser for the upcoming race is what the team is working on with maximum priority at the moment.
The new and improved SunRiser will be presented to the public this July. Stay tuned until then!
